Support Your Painter / Robert Kukla

Robert Kukla squeezes out tubes of acrylic paint, taking a close look at the streets of Poland. He mixes water-soluble paints, which were invented in America in order to paint advertisements on the bulky walls of skyscrapers. It is precisely such advertisements, painted on Polish blocks and tenement houses in the 1980s, that Kukla immortalises in his paintings, alongside dilapidated pavements, car parks and bright billboards of the present day. This original art awaits visitors at the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin.
