State Museum at Majdanek

“Let our fate be a warning to you” is inscribed on the dome of the Mausoleum. The German concentration camp operated from autumn 1941 to July 1944, and in November 1944 it became the first museum in Europe commemorating the victims of the Second World War and the Holocaust. Today the museum focuses on preserving the memory of the victims, protecting the facilities and documenting the history of the camp.
